Tumblr is all the hype these days.
So what does it mean when I say Tumblr inspired? Tumblr is starting to be used as an adjective and not a noun, some of you may be confused at what I mean. Tumblr is an app that was founded by David Karp, this social media app is a way for people to connect through pictures. Tumblr is also used as a short blog.

Now that you are familiar with Tumblr, we will give you some tips on creating your very own Tumblr inspired room.

1. Have a clean workspace. When working on your job or school work, it is very hard not to get distracted by all the clutter you may be storing on your desk. Take out the trash bin and start throwing all the junk away, and start storing all your necessities in the drawers.

 2. A create way to keep your room clean as well as chic is having many neutral colors and layering of decor. Start of with placing this amazing grey couch, and layering with pillows and throw blankets. When trying to find your perfect room on Tumblr, the pictures are going to include cozy items such as mentioned above.

Layering books is a great way to start showing your interests while keeping everything nice and tidy. If your color scheme includes neutrals then book covers is the thing for you.

If your room is dark then go for the light grey and white decorations! Brighten up the room with fairy lights and candles, those items can be bought on www.theankit.com ($24.80)

3. The bedding can be found all over the web and in stores. When looking for the right bedding you have to feel the textures and know what is right for you. We will be helping you with that on this blog post! Your bedding should be romantic and soft as well as simply classy. Comfort is key, so whatever makes you feel at home and relaxed is the right bedding for you.

There are so many different styles, here are some.......

Bead Spread- decorative cover that reaches the floor on all sides, extra amount of the fabric will be left over for you to fold on the top of the bed.

Comforter- Drops over the bed without reaching the floor, this requires a bed skirt, and shams to cover the top of the bed.

Quilt- decorative bedcover that is handmade or printed, usually reaches the bed/box spring. Requires a bed ruffle to cover to the floor.

4. Cacti, succulents, and other plant life is a great thing to add to your room as decor.

Plants make your room look elegant and clean.
They also look great in pictures, which is what we want in a Tumblr room. Corner to corner your room needs to look spectatculas and picture ready. This means to always clean around your room and keep it fresh.

Decor tip: Put the succulents, cacti and other small plants on a book shelf or on your bed side table.

• I recommend to keep the plants out of direct sunlight and water when the dirt looks dry. This helps to ensure the plant will last a longer lifetime.

6. If you want a bohemian vibe (like all of the Tumblr posts & Urban Outfitters Apartment Furniture) than incorporating different religions into your style will do the trick. This Japanese manner is a way to get bohemian vibes into your room, just by bringing a coffee table into your room and adding a pillow as a seat will do just fine.

Looking closely at the picture to your right, you might notice details that you won't see by looking far away. Every small detail should be carefully thought through and incorporated into your room. When looking at the picture, the first thing I noticed was the great layering job done by the designer... you can read more about that in picture #2.... the more I look the more details I find.

This brings me to my next point, include dimension! You might be thinking, "whaaat? Dimension??" But this step is important especially if you are bloggers like us or just designer enthusiasts. Include tables that are different sizes and different distances away from each other, add things in front and behind of the object to bring everything into to action. Enjoy designing!!

7.  The most popular and best way to decorate a plane white wall is to decorate with firefly lights. They are popular among all stores and social media. The most popular place to find firefly lights is at Urban Outfitters, but a good alternative if you don't want to spend $20 on 15'  of lights is to by the plain old kind! You can find them in any market during the Christmas time for as little as $5!

Another great idea for decorating your room is to buy fake flowers{example in picture}. This is an awesome alternative for buying real flowers. They will last you a long time and you will spend less in the long run. Great places to purchase fake flowers are at Michaels or any other craft store, and even the dollar store.
8. Tapestry is a form of textile art, traditionally hung on a vertical wall. However, it can also be put on the floor as decoration.

If you want to add color to your room this tapestry is perfect for you. Tapestry in general brings a very hippie and bohemian vibe to a room. These are perfect to put on an empty wall or behind your bed. Im in love with the tapestry prints and I'm sure you will be obsessed to, if you aren't already. My favorite stores that sell tapestry are Urban Outfitters and Ankit. Both of the stores have a wide variety of colors, prints, and prices. {The picture on the left is from Ankit}
